Cost guide
How Much Does Christmas Light Installation Cost in Winnipeg?
In Winnipeg, the cost of professional Christmas light installation comes down to four things: how much roofline there is and how many peaks it has, whether the house is one storey or two, how many trees you want lit, and whose lights are used. Jet Set quotes each property from a photo and the address rather than a flat rate, and replies within a few hours. This guide explains what moves the price so you know what to expect before you ask.

Installed my govee lights and did a great job. They tidied up after themselves you would never have known they were there
They did a great job on our windows and installation of our Christmas lights! Very easy to deal with. We will definitely use them again.
Thank you so much Jordan, Alex, and Frank for helping me complete this project! I was especially impressed with how prompt and accommodating you made the whole process. Highly recommend!
What is included in a Jet Set install
Every install includes the clips, a timer set for dusk, a full test before we leave, and a return visit if a bulb or string quits during the season. When Jet Set supplies the lights, they are commercial-grade LED strings rated for Manitoba cold, and they are yours after the install. Takedown is quoted with the install so you see the full-season cost up front. Not included: electrical work such as adding an outdoor outlet, and lighting on trees beyond safe ladder and pole reach, which we tell you about before quoting.
Doing it yourself versus hiring
Hanging your own lights saves the install fee and costs a Saturday, a ladder on frozen ground, and the January takedown nobody enjoys. Where homeowners get hurt is the roof edge and the ladder on ice, and where lights fail is cheap strings and overloaded outlets. If you do it yourself: use LED strings rated for outdoor cold, clips instead of staples, a timer, and never work the roof once there is snow or ice on it. If the roof is two storeys, the trees are tall, or you would rather not climb in January, hiring is the sensible call.
When to book in Winnipeg
October and early November. The ground freezes and lasting snow arrives around mid-November in most years, which ends tree stakes and makes roof work weather-dependent. Jet Set installs into December when conditions allow, but the choice of dates narrows every week. Takedown runs January to March.
What it costs in Winnipeg
| Home or job | Price | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Bungalow roofline, new LED strings | Starting from $299 | Front roofline and peaks, clips, timer, test, return visit for a failed bulb |
| Roofline with your own lights | Starting from $299 | Testing your strings, install, clips, timer |
| Takedown | Starting from $149 | Removal, strings coiled and labelled |
Every quote is for your property, so the price moves with:
- Roofline length: a wide bungalow can have more roofline than a narrow two-storey
- Peaks, gables and dormers: every peak adds a run up and back down
- Two storeys and steep pitches take longer and need more equipment
- Trees: a wrapped trunk uses far more light and time than a draped shrub
- Whose lights: new commercial-grade LEDs cost more up front and last longer
- Extras: railings, deck, columns, window frames, wreaths
- Takedown and storage, usually quoted with the install
- Booking date: early bookings get the best dates, late-season installs are weather-limited

Questions Winnipeg customers ask
Why do installers quote from a photo instead of a flat price?
Because roofline length, peaks and trees vary so much between Winnipeg homes that a flat price would overcharge small houses and undercharge big ones. A photo and the address let Jet Set price your house, usually within a few hours.
Is it cheaper to use my own lights?
The install fee is lower when you supply working LED strings, because there is no light cost. Old incandescent strings and strings that fail the test are replaced with new ones with your go-ahead.
Is takedown extra?
Takedown is quoted with the install so you see the full-season cost up front. Stand-alone takedown of lights someone else installed is priced on its own.
Do prices go up closer to Christmas?
Jet Set prices the job, not the date. What changes late in the season is availability and weather, so early bookings get first choice of dates.
